Are you “too sensitive”?

Have you ever been told you are “too sensitive”?

This is not a “flaw” as some would infer, but most likely you have a highly receptive and highly sensitive nervous system.  In psychological language, this is called “HSP” (highly sensitive person) traits. This is typical for about 15-20% of the population, and as a child, your temperament may have been called “shy” or “fussy”. You may notice that loud voices, bright lights, changes, nervousness, hyper-awareness, etc. combine to create a life that requires self-awareness and self-care.  HSP is “normal” but different than the majority of the population.  Often, stress, trauma, and fear register more strongly for your nervous system.
